Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

This role focuses on building, operating, and securing production-grade cloud infrastructure for Swiss Re’s shared business services on Alibaba Cloud. The engineer will ensure the platform is compliant, automated, scalable, and aligned with regulated workload requirements, supporting critical services like identity and access management, AML systems, document management, and Spring Boot-based applications.

You will design and deliver secure infrastructure using Terraform, YAML-based Azure DevOps pipelines, and automation through Python and Shell. The role includes embedding security and compliance controls into infrastructure code, enabling disaster recovery readiness, and ensuring consistent performance across environments. You will also collaborate with development teams working on Java/Spring Boot and React applications, supporting secure builds, vulnerability remediation, patching, and dependency upgrades.

Key Responsibilities

Build and operate secure, compliant, reusable infrastructure on Alibaba Cloud for production services.

Implement performance, security, and audit baselines via Terraform and automation pipelines.

Deliver hardened infrastructure meeting regulated workload needs, uptime targets, and patching SLAs.

Automate deployments, patching, access controls, and upgrades using Azure DevOps and scripting.

Support runtime patching, dependency updates, and vulnerability remediation workflows.

Contribute to business continuity planning including backups, DR design, and DR readiness.

Participate in design reviews, provide architectural input, and ensure infrastructure is audit-ready.

Align Alibaba Cloud infrastructure with Azure-hosted service dependencies for cross-cloud consistency.

Engage in post-incident reviews and drive infrastructure-level corrective actions.

About You

5+ years of cloud engineering experience with production infrastructure delivery.

Expertise in public cloud platforms (Alibaba, Azure, AWS).

Strong understanding of secure network design, IAM, encryption, and compliance.

Proven experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.

Skilled in Azure DevOps YAML pipelines, Python, and Shell scripting.

Ability to automate patching, enforce compliance baselines, and maintain secure environments.

Experience supporting Java/Spring Boot and React applications, ensuring secure builds and runtime operations.

Strong execution mindset, ability to work across teams, and comfort in regulated enterprise environments.
